Finding a babysitter
I'm new here - how do I find a sitter?
SwapBabysitting does not connect you with new people, or help you find a nanny, childcare or paid babysitter. It helps you to organise babysitting with your friends, and helps you to connect with their friends (using them as references) to build up your network of babysitting contacts.
To get started, register / login and then press "Get a Babysitter" and follow the prompts. It will help you send out your first request for a babysitter to your friends.
To use the web site, do my friends all have to be members as well?
No they don't. You can use the web site to organise your own babysitting - your friends just need an email address. When you want to find a sitter, the web site will email the people you choose from your address book, and track their replies. Then you confirm who you would like to babysit.
So you can use the site to ask your mates or your mother in law, and they only have to sign up if they want to - and if they want to earn babysitting credits!
What do the stars mean?
The coloured stars show the amount of experience a babysitter has. The more babysitting you do through SwapBabysitting, the more experience points you gain.
The colour of the star shows how many babysits you have done:
1 babysit
2 - 5 babysits
6 - 10 babysits
11 - 15 babysits
16 - 20 babysits
21 - 30 babysits
31 - 50 babysits
More than 50 babysits
Security
Will my children be safe?
Whenever you leave your children in the care of others, you need to ensure you are happy in their ability to care for your children.
SwapBabysitting does not and cannot vouch for any babysitter you may organise, and so it is up to you to check their suitability.
The service helps you to do that by providing information about who else they are friends with and who they have previously babysat for, so you can use your friends as references for new sitters. However we recommend you meet any new
Who can see my details?
Just your friends. Relax.
Credits
What is a credit?
1 credit is 15 minutes of babysitting time. So 4 Credits = 1 hour
What is the credit system for?
Credits provide a form of babysitting currency - which means you spend them when you have a babysitter and earn them when you do babysitting. They keep things fair, because they encourage you to do as much babysitting as you receive, with the added flexibility of being able to do this with anyone using the SwapBabysitting network.
What happens if I don't have enough credits?
You can request a babysitter regardless of how many credits you have. However you will not be able to confirm a sitter unless you have enough credits in your account to cover the babysit.
To get additional credits, you can either do some babysitting or buy some credits online using Paypal. Each credit costs just 75p.
I have invited several friends, where are my bonus credits?
You will earn 4 credits for every friend you invite. Your account will only be credited when your friend registers with SwapBabysitting.
I've bought some credits but I don't need them. How do I get a refund?
You can get a refund on any unused purchased credits within 30 days. Simply forward your Paypal or SwapBabysitting receipt email to accounts@swapbabysitting.com and we will process your request.
